The Consciousness Research Laboratory is a scientific research organization established in 1993 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  In 2001, CRL moved to the Institute of Noetic Sciences, in Petaluma, California. CRL's mission is the scientific exploration of the role of consciousness in the physical world, with particular interest in those experiences called "psychic."

CRL's Director, Dr. Dean Radin was formerly engaged in R&D on advanced telecommunications systems at AT&T's Bell Laboratories and later at GTE Laboratories.  He became seriously interested in psychic phenomena as a result of conducting then-classified research on psi for the US government at SRI International in 1985. Since then, he has conducted psi research at Princeton University, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Nevada, and two Silicon Valley industrial research firms:  Interval Research Corporation and the Boundary Institute.

Dr. Radin earned a Ph.D. in psychology and an MS in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and an undergraduate honors degree, magna cum laude, in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  He has authored or coauthored three books and over 200 journal articles and technical reports, has received numerous research grants and awards, and was elected President of the AAAS-affiliated Parapsychological Association in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2005-2006. Before starting a career in science, Dr. Radin was a professional classical violinist, a fiddler and banjo player in a bluegrass band, and a mural and stained-glass artist.
